companies as Apple Computer, Samna (Lotus’s word processor),
Sequoia Software, HealthSouth, Phycor and Corporate Childcare Services.
Today, we bring this
experience to bear on opportunities that match the following investment
Anthem invests exclusively in the Mid-Atlantic states and serves this
area from offices located in three of the region’s key markets:
the Baltimore–Washington corridor, the Greater Philadelphia
market, and the Greater Pittsburgh market.
Anthem seeks opportunities in IT and healthcare/life
sciences industries. IT investments are most frequently made in enterprise
software or network management software companies. Medical investments
tend to fall into three categories: medical devices, biotechnology
Anthem invests in early to expansion stage opportunities. Typically,
our initial investment is made in the Series A or Series B institutional
venture capital round. We have led or co-led 80% of the investments
we have made, but also will participate in syndicates where appropriate.
Anthem seeks to invest between $2 million and $5 million in a company
from the first private equity round through exit. Typically, our initial
investment ranges from $1 million to $2 million.
